Welcome new Erasmus students to Valencia!

Party on a catamaran full of new Erasmus students, discover Albufera, the biggest natural lake in Spain, and its lovely sunset, or learn how to cook the most famous Valencian dish: la paella. Take a guided tour of the city or enjoy the party in Umbracle all night.

All these events are free for Erasmus students!

The Erasmus Welcome Weekend is the perfect way to meet students from all over the world, make new friends, enjoy some of Valencia's best parties and discover the city from day one. With VLE you'll enjoy a mix of parties, local experiences, culture and gastronomy.

Every year, Valencia Language Exchange (VLE), together with Visit Valencia, the Patronato de Turisme de València and local universities, welcomes new international and Erasmus students to Valencia.

Since 2013, VLE and Visit Valencia, in collaboration with the València Province Tourism Board and the València Region Tourism Board, have been inviting exchange students to enjoy a fun-filled weekend while discovering Valencia and its surroundings.

VLE is officially one of the Board of Directors of the Education Committee Valencia, the committee responsible for extracurricular education in the city. This event is also co-organized with their support.

Planning

• Friday 16/10, afternoon: Albufera boat tour. We meet at Av. Aragón 31, take the bus to Albufera, have some free time and then the boat tour, and return to the same meeting point. Includes private transport, beach and boat ride. Max 120 places. More info
• Friday 16/10, night: Friday Connect + Akuarela. With your VLE membership you get free entry before cutoff time to Akuarela. More info
• Saturday 17/10, afternoon: Epic boat party. Meet at the harbour, have a drink together, then 1 hour on a big catamaran with 100+ Erasmus students: music, open sea, swimming and sunbathing, then the beach. Max 120 places. More info
• Saturday 17/10, night: Flag Tandem Umbracle. With your VLE membership you can join Flag Tandem and get free entry before cutoff time. More info
• Sunday 18/10, midday: Paella cooking show. Open-air show including one paella dish (chicken or vegetarian). Max 120 places. More info
• Sunday 18/10, afternoon: Beach volley. The first 50 people can join for free. Join the WhatsApp group to participate and receive info. More info
• Sunday 18/10, 16:00: Valencia guided tour. Meet in the city centre by the train station for an official 2-hour guided tour focused on the green city, followed by free entry to a museum.

Price & conditions

Only for Erasmus or international students: free. To reserve: pay 10€ and get refunded (see conditions).

These events are offered by Valencia Language Exchange and Turismo Valencia with the collaboration of the Patronato de Turismo de la Diputación de València and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.

Conditions: To secure your place you pay 10€; if you come, we refund you in the form of 2 vouchers (usable for our 2026 events & trips, 1 for an event and 1 for a trip). For the guided tour you pay 5€ and the voucher is 5€ for an excursion. The guided tour is refunded to all students with a voucher (even if you are not Erasmus).

Why pay? Five years ago, when we first offered a free trip, more than 200 people registered, but on the day many didn't appear, and other people who really wanted to participate couldn't. So we charge a deposit, and if you come, we refund it as a voucher you can use for the whole year for any event or trip organised by VLE or Wexcursion.

Max places: boat party 120, Albufera 120, guided tour 80, paella 120.

What is included:

• Beach volley: fun tournament with organization and music at the chiringuito
• Boat party: 1 h boat trip with music and party
• Albufera: transport, beach time, boat ride and transport back
• Paella cooking show: ingredients, show and lunch
• Guided tour: 2 h with an official Valencia tourism guide

Important:

• Even if you book the Paella Cooking Show, Albufera and the Boat Party, you receive one single €10 refund voucher in total across these three events. We strongly recommend booking only one of these three per person.
• You can cancel up to 1 week before the event to receive a refund as a voucher. If an event is cancelled due to weather, the refund is also issued as a voucher.
• To get the voucher you have to participate and show an official accreditation (Erasmus card or letter). Private Erasmus company cards are not accepted. Without it, you pay the difference to the non-Erasmus ticket or cannot participate.
