Montanejos is a full-day nature adventure in the heart of the Valencian Community. Relax by the blue lagoon, admire the breathtaking Salto de la Novia waterfall, or take part in hiking, rafting, and kayaking. Along the way, meet fellow travelers, practice languages, and share unforgettable moments with people from all over the world.

We have two types of trips from Valencia, almost every day from April to October.

Option 1 (Adventure): Montanejos + adventure activities (hiking, rafting or kayaking)

For adrenaline seekers, Montanejos offers adventure in its crystal-clear rivers. Choose one activity: hike through scenic trails, rafting on exciting rapids, or kayaking along the lake.

After the activity, unwind by the blue lagoon, connect with fellow travelers, and enjoy a snack at a riverside chiringuito. Then we leave for Valencia. An ideal active day trip from Valencia.

• Winter hike: the full 6 km hike through beautiful scenery.
• Summer hike: a shorter 3 km route, mostly in the shade for a more comfortable walk.

Option 2 (Relax): Montanejos relax

Enjoy the thermal waters, explore the charming village, relax at a riverside chiringuito and afterwards visit the stunning Salto de la Novia, where water drops 60 meters into a calm river.

Choose your options carefully; it won't be possible to change them later.

You'll receive all the information by email, so please always check it. Please be there 15 minutes before departure time.

What to bring

• For everyone: swimsuit, towel, sunscreen; food and plenty of water; extra clothes and shoes
• Hiking group: all of the above + proper sports/hiking shoes (mandatory)
• Rafting & kayak groups: all of the above + shoes that can get wet (hard sole, not water shoes; mandatory). All other equipment is provided by the company. Don't forget dry clothes for after the activity.

• Entrance ticket to the bathing area and Salto de la Novia: 5.00€ (buy it together with your ticket, otherwise you will have to wait in the queue and lose your activity)

Program: Montanejos + activities (hike/raft/kayak)

1. Departure from Valencia: We meet in front of Mestalla (Avenida de Aragón, 31). The bus journey lasts approximately 1 h 15 min.
2. Arrival in Montanejos: a stop for coffee, restrooms, changing.
3. Adventure activities: we split into groups. Rafting/kayaking go with the sports company; hikers go with the hiking guide.
4. River beach: after the activities we return to the lake/river beach to bathe, have a picnic and swim in the spring/thermal water. If all activities finish on time, we stop at the waterfalls (40 min).
5. Heading back to Valencia.

Program: Montanejos + Salto de la Novia

1. Departure from Valencia in front of Mestalla (about 1 h 15 min by bus).
2. Arrival in Montanejos: picnic, then swimming in the spring lake and thermal water.
3. Salto de la Novia: we drive to the Salto de la Novia (40 min) to admire two waterfalls, one of them an impressive 60 m high.
4. Back to Valencia.

The activities

• Hiking: a route through the mountain with views of the canyons, the valley and the Mijares River, about 6 km (medium) in winter and 3 km in summer. We visit the Black Cave and a powerful waterspout. Positive elevation gain 236 m; max altitude 587 m.
• Rafting: about 3 hours on the rapids of the Mijares river, class II. Suitable for beginners, but you need to be physically fit and know how to swim. Equipment (wetsuit, vest, paddle, helmet, boat), insurance and photos included. Paid separately.
• Kayaking: 2–3 hours on the calm water of the Arenoso reservoir, with an adventure sports company that provides insurance, instructors and all material. Paid separately.

Salto de la Novia

The Salto de la Novia gets its name from a tragic local legend. A bride once had to jump across the river to prove her love. She fell, and her groom jumped after her. Their story lives on, and the waterfall is said to resemble a bride's veil.

Montanejos springs

An inscription tells the legend of King Abú Zayd, the last Almohad ruler of Valencia: in the 13th century, he built these Arab baths to keep his favorites beautiful and youthful.
